Hush, Be Still!
Mark 4:39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
Last Wednesday, I did not write a post, instead did some maintenance and some very scary but needed updates and fixes to the website.
Mark 4:36-37 Leaving the crowd, they *took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there *arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.
It felt like a storm was coming against my boat! Unlike the apostles, who knew the sea as well as, if not better, than their own backyard playground, I know (mostly guessing) just enough to be dangerous. I even hired the experts to help, thinking I would just lie back and sip a cocktail, while they made everything pretty and perfect.
Nope… not done yet. Evidently cleaning the database required throwing everything, except the baby, out and starting with ONE subscriber (me).
***By the way, if you have registered on this site and are not a robot, please register anew, your registration was storm damaged!***
There *arose (in my spirit) a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.
I don’t do well at downsizing, I tend to hoard all the nonessential and misplace all the really important stuff. So, it isn’t any wonder that I’m freaking out (not the same as being a Jesus Freak!) and wondering if I should begin again or just close the whole blog due to flood damage.
It is a good thing (WONDERFUL THING) that I also took Jesus along with me in my boat! He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.”
I actually heard His words, “HUSH, BE STILL!”
But He wasn’t talking to the computer (boat) nor the programming (the storm) nor the fix necessary to stop the flood (database overload).
He was talking to ME!
Mark 4:40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Thirty Eight years of having Me onboard and you STILL let the storms of life intimidate you? Do you still have no faith? Where is your observance of Who I am? Where is your remembrance of ALL that I have done/am doing/will do in your life? (Malachi 3:16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name.)Are you writing your book, Mary? The book of remembrance of “Jesus and Me”. (Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!) The book of observing ALL He has shown you regarding “WHO HE IS”.
Observe and Remember…
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
Yeah! Mary! What’s your spirit soaking in?
Ok! Ok! I get it! It’s time to mitigate the storm damage.
Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
A little soggy, Lord, but wholly Yours!
Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, (or technology).
It is all Your’s, Lord! Even the experts cannot will not make it work as perfectly as You!
Isaiah 55:11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Search me, O God…
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Though I know, that I know merely enough to sink the boat, I confess my nature to go with uppity thinking.
Romans 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
Search me, O God… and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way. (Psalm 139:23-24)
When all was/is/will be done this week (and next, and next, and next) during the current and future storms, in life, computer drama, or otherwise, Jesus used it as a teachable moment (Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go).
He was neither punishing me nor condemning me when He told me to “HUSH!” He was telling me of His plans for my life and the tasks He has given me. (I know the plans I have for you…)
He was…
Zephaniah 3:17 Adonai your God is in your midst— a mighty Savior! He will delight over you with joy. He will quiet you with His love. He will dance for joy over you with singing. (from the Tree of Life Version of the Bible)
I heard “Hush, be still!”so that I might sing and dance with Him to the music of storm.
Mark 4:39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. But the music never stoped!
How about you? Is there a little storm scare in your life in need of our Storm Chaser?
Hush, be still! Listen to the music of the storm! He is in the boat with you.
