I Want To Be.Like.George Floyd!

Joshua 24:15 If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord .”

There are many choices but only One Lord.

There are many opinions about who you SHOULD choose, but only one who stands before their choice to receive the value/compensation for your service. That would be YOU!

When all is said and done and you are facing the final moments of your life and you are standing before the judge (no jury, just the receiver of your service), it is you who bears the final judgement and consequences from your choice.

From everything i have heard, because unfortunately I never had the opportunity to know this brother of mine, George Floyd stood before the Lord, our God because he CHOSE to love and therefor, serve Jesus! For George, his final consequence for his choice is that, The Judge (the ONLY judge) of the living and dead, wrapped His arms around George and said, Welcome home, My Son!”

I want to be.like.George Floyd!

The policeman who murdered him (and the three who stood and watched) chose to serve EVIL. Unless he meets and chooses to love and serve Jesus, like George, he will bear the judgement and consequences of his service choices… eternally!

Is that ENOUGH? Does knowing this calm our souls which crave the ultimate victory over this unspeakable, unfair, unforgivable act?

What does the ultimate victory over all the evil of this world look like?

It looks like the crucifixion it was.  And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

Many then and now, think evil won then, as it appears evil is winning today.

Many, then and now, fail to understand that the first coming of Jesus the Son of God, was to pay the price of evil’s work, sin!

The wages of sin is death.

Oh, you don’t sin? Sin is for the really bad (whom by the way I will name if you ask me), me, I’m a “good person” – just ask me and I will tell you so.

“There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God ; All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good , There is not even one . Their throat is an open grave, With their tongues they keep deceiving , The poison of asps is under their lips; Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; Their feet are swift to shed blood, Destruction and misery are in their paths, And the path of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes.”  Romans 3:9-18

The wages, whether you believe you owe them or not, is death!

Jesus died so we could live! He was THE ONLY ONE who could… and DID!

Where is the victory?

He LIVES! Death did not swallow Him – He defeated it!  And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;  Matthew 27:50-52

He did it for each and every person on this earth…  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16

This time Jesus came to save.  “If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”  John 12:47

However, He will come again, and then… comes judgement.  “He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”  John 12:48-50

What ever else this day may bring… Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve  Be.Like.George.Floyd, regardless of whatever else the day may bring, choose Jesus! I know he (George) is glad he did!

I also know he (George) is grieved for the one who murdered him. I know he (George) is face to face with God praying… “Father, forgive him for he knows not what he’s done!” Just Like Jesus did…

I also know he’s praying for each and every one of us (because I believe that is one of the jobs done in heaven)…  I imagine it goes something like this… “God, grant the people of earth, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith; and that each of them, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that each of them may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”  (Ephesians 3:16-19)

Lord, God, as my heart breaks with the grief and chaos evil has fired against us, every man, woman and child on this earth, I want to be.like.George Floyd in my choice to love and serve You.

And in my love and service I want to be.like.Jesus!

I want to… Bless those who persecute me; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another; not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Not be wise in my own estimation. Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on me, be at peace with all men.  Romans 12:14-18

I want to serve Jesus well! How can I serve You, Lord? And looking at me Jesus says to me, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  Matthew 19:26

May we all choose to be.like.Jesus!
