God Don’t Make No Junk!…
Psalm 139:13-18 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
Fearfully and wonderfully made… Nope, no junk here!
My frame was not hidden from You… no surprises!
Skillfully wrought… no mistakes made!
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance… no regrets in design!
In Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me… God made a plan… God has a plan… when as yet there was not one of them… and God knows His plan well!
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
With that being said, here’s my question…
What would happen if we (every one of us) realized that we aren’t God’s ONLY gift to the world? What would it look like if we truly understood and believed that God’s gift to this world is and always has been every man, woman, and child (even those whose life we didn’t get a chance to embrace) in whatever form they came into this world, past, present and future.
God loves each and every life and does not see imperfection. He sees a life worth creating… a life worth loving… a life worth saving!
What would this world be if we saw life through God’s eyes?
Come to find out… you (and you and you and you) ARE God’s gift to the world!
Yeah, yeah… I know none of us act like true gifts. None of us look like the gift God certainly intended to give. Not one of us deserves the label of gift!
But wait… we just might be looking through the wrong eyes!
I don’t know about you, but I have been trained by this world in the art of “critical sight”. I don’t SEE what’s good, I SEE everything that is wrong. And… because I SEE it, I MUST hate it, for it is wrong, The closest I can come to seeing and celebrating the fearful and wonderful, is to promise that I will celebrate AFTER FIXING all that is wrong.
We could blame the training, after all EVERYBODY knows a child does not know hatred, they have to be taught to hate. I agree that there is far too much hatred taught (and acted upon) in our world today, but isn’t there room for hatred? I mean there are some really good-looking people who intend evil toward others! Shouldn’t we hate the evil done to our fellow gifts?
Doesn’t God hate evil?
Absolutely… Proverbs 6:16-18 There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him;
Read that again… THINGS which the Lord hates…
Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers.
God does hate evil, just as His creation (Romans 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now) does.
But He doesn’t hate His creation! So, we certainly can and should hate evil and evil’s deeds BUT we are not to hate God’s creation.
In fact Jesus told us to LOVE… not just our friends and family… “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:43-44
There is beauty and God’s breath in EVERY human creature. However, we will never be able to see it if we depend on ourselves and the world’s version of what we are seeing and what we should look for.
Far to many of us live lives of shame and embarrassment because we do not meet the “standard of beauty or acceptable presentation”. Even though we know these standards are set by an unknown gang of so-called experts (we assume they are human) whom, if I may say (because I haven’t ever met them) lack sight. In some cases one might even call them blind.
We too, when meeting someone new, can view them from a skewed perception which is often influenced by fear. We are not seeing with the eyes of truth but with eyes whose main concern is our own comfort with the information we are receiving from them.
We need to see with God’s eyes, which we can only do through intimate knowledge of Him and in Him. We need to look with concern, not for our own comfort and understanding, but concern for TRUTH and LOVE.
When we judge ourselves and others as inferior and/or unworthy, we do damage to the soul. Unseen, this damage often is like a cancer that grows and infects and combines to kill if not the whole life, the passion for life. We wonder why we and others walk through life more like zombies than the vibrant creatures God intended as gifts to this world. Our passion, our confidence, our zeal for the adventure of being alive, many times have been destroyed by those words of hate we have received and passed on which say we are NOT fearfully and wonderfully made.
You ARE beautiful!
Accept no other judgement!
RECEIVE God’s view of you!
If you are less than that imaginary standard of perfection, KNOW that you are exactly as God intended – fearfully and wonderfully made!
If you cannot please those in your life or are unable to be who they want you to be, BELIEVE that He knows the plans that He has for you, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)
“God Don’t Make No Junk” and He loves everything and everyone He makes!
If you don’t believe me… Ask Jesus…
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
