Prayer Time…

Luke 18:40-41 And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He questioned him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!”

If Jesus said that to me, “What do you want Me to do for you?” I would go into frenzy mode trying to make sure I have EVERY want listed.

IF????

I hear this question everyday… every time I pray.  What I don’t do is experience prayer time as the life-changing event it is… like this man did as Jesus entered his life.

Luke 18:35-39 As Jesus was approaching Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. Now hearing a crowd going by, he began to inquire what this was. They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he called out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

They told him (cause he really was blind) Jesus of Nazareth was passing by… I shouldn’t have to be told, I have supposedly come to His throne room to meet with Him.

He was excited and anxious to be seen and heard by Jesus… me too… well, most times some times, a few times, you know how it is with your brother – same ole, same ole.

He called out and the leaders of the parade tried to silence him… some of the leaders of my parade (priests, teachers, fellow siblings) tried and succeeded in silencing my robust cry. One must be dignified and respectful and humble in the throne room! Evidently it is not the place for crying infants or rambunctious children.

But he kept crying out ALL THE MORE… ok, now I’m getting it!

He knew WHO… Jesus. Son of David. The crowd had only said Jesus of Nazareth, but he KNEW Jesus! He knew WHAT he needed… mercy!

Guess what happened when he called out… Jesus stopped

Can you imagine… and commanded that he be brought to Him

And when he came near, He questioned him… “What do you want Me to do for you?”

Not, “Who do you think you are?” or “Why should I stop for you?” or even “Make it quick, I’m on My way to the synagogue and have important people waiting for me.”

Nope, right there, in the dirty, dusty street, Jesus asked for this man’s prayer request.

I would’ve been am like “Here’s my starting list, including some requests for others who couldn’t be here for the parade.”

Not this guy, he had lived long enough to know what the ONE thing he wanted most was. He was not about to waste this opportunity on anything but the ONE thing he had desired as he sat day after day in the street doing the only thing he could do… begging.

“Lord, I want to regain my sight!”… me too!

And Jesus said… get ready for it… Luke 18:42 Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”

Yep…Yep!

I’m making this my new and improved Prayer Time…

I’m going to CRY out to Jesus and KEEP CRYING until I am ushered into His presence. No more being hushed…

I’m going to stand FACE to FACE with Him and KNOW Him as my LORD…

I’m going to be PREPARED with the ONE THING I no longer want to live without…

And WHEN He asks…“What do you want Me to do for you?”

Open my eyes that I might see… THAT I MIGHT SEE YOU!

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

Come, Lord, Come! It’s prayer time and I’m hungry!
